Revolutionary Tavern Life

This program promotes critical thinking and encourages the awareness of different perspectives. Students achieve this through discussion, inquiry-based learning, as well as the exploration of tavern life and the lives of various people from the American Revolution. The program includes visiting the historic Long Room where George Washington bid farewell to his officers in 1783 and exploring flags of the Continental Army. Students will participate in hands-on activities that enhance the themes from the galleries and challenge students to use what they have learned from the museum tour.

New after October 23, school programs will include a visit to our newly expanded Birch Trials exhibition, which features the stories of Black Patriots and Loyalists in the American Revolution.

Length of Program: 90 minutes, educator-led. The program is held during morning hours (starting at 10:00 or 10:30am) before the Museum opens to the public.
